Tanner loves her Jo Jo

Tanner even got a little JoJo doll signed. We spent all day meeting characters. Teressa got to ride a couple of roller coasters, Jaymie got to go into a haunted mansion, and I got a smoked turkey leg (maybe that’s why I’m so tired). If ya want to see the pictures, they are here.  I’m tired, later!

Our spring “holiday” day 7 or “Attack of the Yeti”

Let’s just say the new ride at Animal Kingdom kicked my ass today.  Let’s just say I can’t hardly walk now.

Today, we spent most of the day in Animal Kingdom, and had a blast.  We probably crossed the park 4 or 5 times.  I’ve never been able to spend more than about 2 to 3 hours in Animal Kingdom, but the girls kept me busy.  We stayed in Animal Kingdom until they kicked us out this evening.  Plans were to spend half the day in MGM, but we did not even make it over there until after 6:30, and they closed at 7:30.  We’re going to end up starting at MGM and finishing at Magic Kingdom tomorrow evening.  We’re gonna spend all Saturday in Epcot, at least that’s the current plans.  Weather here was beautiful, hot and dry.

Tanner gets to meet JoJo tomorrow…  Today’s pictures are here.

I’m beat, I need to head to bed, talk at ya tomorrow!

Vacation Day 5 & 6 (sorry, couldn’t come up with a catchier title)

Filed March 29, 2006 at 10:48 pm under Family and Parrotheads by TJ

Well, today is Wednesday, we are in Orlando, in a fantastic 2 bedroom condo just outside the gates for Disney.  We have the condo until Sunday, and the best part is I got it on barter through Henry Street Trading Company.  No complaints there…

OK, last post was Monday, I was going to get some pictures posted, but things got busy, and we ended up being too tired to do anything last night.  I’ve got some pictures posted in a new gallery, they are here:

http://www.tjtryon.com/gallery/view.php?gallery_id=68

OK, day 5 was fantastic.  We got an early start on Duval, right after breakfast, and walked the entire length of Duval and back, window shopping, t-shirt shopping, and sightseeing the whole way.  We decided to stop at Margaritaville for lunch (suprised?), and decided shortly thereafter to head back to the hotel for some pool time.  Back at the hotel, we swam for a few hours, with Tanner in the pool for her first time.  She was not quite sure what that was about, but soon enough she felt comfortable sitting on Mama’s lap on the pool steps and spashing away, while TBear and I threw a nerf football around the pool.  By the way, if you get a nerf football for the pool, get one that is made for pool use; the one we had was not, and weighed about 20 pounds once it filled up with water.

After a few hours, we got out of the pool, and headed on into old town, to hit the Sunset Celebration.  The hope was to see Silverman, and for Jaymie and TBear to have their pictures from last year autographed.  Unfortunatly, he was not in town this week (he’ll be back in a week or two, we were told), so maybe next time.  We enjoyed the show anyways.  Be sure to check out the pictures.

Today is vacation day 6, we got up, had breakfast and drove to Orlando.  Tomorrow is Disney.  I’m sure I will have lots to say tomorrow, but today, I’m tired.  I’m off to bed.

Back to the Island – Day 4

Filed March 27, 2006 at 9:56 pm under Family and Parrotheads by TJ

We had a wonderful couple of days visiting with Oma and Fredel, and today we wished them a happy journey to Germany, where they will spend the next six months (they leave Thursday), hit the road and went on our way…

“Well I hope you understand, I just had to go back to the island.” – JB

Today, we made our way a little further south.  We settled somewhere southwest of disorder, in a little tiny unheard of town called Key West.  OK, yeah, I know, you heard of it…  I normally like to stay somewhere around the Duval party area, but with both the girls, and with a third one along the way, I decided it would be better to stay a little bit away from that scene.  We’re on the opposite side of the island, about as far as you can be from Duval/Front and still be on the island.  That almost was what I wanted…  I forgot that this side of the island is the flyway for the airport that is like 1/2 mile away…

Regardless, we are on Key West, have a great hotel room overlooking the pool as well as the Atlantic, and a decent day planned for tomorrow.  We will be heading over to Mallory Square tomorrow evening, as the lovely wife and Teressa want to get Silverman’s signature on the 8×10’s we printed from the last few times we came here, when they saw Silverman.  It’s gonna be a good day tomorrow, and life is good.  There is nothing better than having my family together in Paradise…

I’ll have some pictures posted tomorrow…

Until then, have Tropical Dreamz!

Spring Break Day 3 (Sunday)

Filed March 26, 2006 at 6:16 pm under Family by TJ

Today was Tanner’s first “official” trip to the beach, and as you can tell from the picture, we ended up at Sanibel. It was very windy, and the water was COLD, with air temps in the mid-60s and the water temps about the same. Since it was so cold and windy, we only stayed a little bit, but Tanner and Teressa seemed to enjoy the time we had there.  Nobody really got in the water, but Teressa, Tanner and myself did get our feet wet.  Tanner seemed to enjoy trying to eat the sand, and was squinting the whole time from the sun.  Unfortunatly, she will not keep a hat or sunglasses on long enough to benefit from them.  Tomorrow the weather is supposed to warm to the upper 70s, but the water will not warm much, if any. I think this is going to lend itself to us leaving a day early for Key West, where the water should be in the mid 70s and the air in the mid to upper 80s.

My laptop battery is getting ready to die, I’ll update more later.  Y’all have a great day!

Cruizin’ (Vacation, Day 1)

Filed March 24, 2006 at 4:58 pm under Family by TJ

Gawd, I love cellular internet access.  We’re currently cruzin’ down I75, just north of Tampa, heading to St. Pete.  We made it to Floirida in roughly 12 hours, great ride, no traffic, and since it was an overnight run, the girls handled the ride well (in their sleep).  I’ll have spotty internet access over the next week, so don’t expect tons of updates, but I will get some posts, as well as some pictures over the next week.  Plans so far are to spend tonight at Gretchen’s in St. Pete, then head on down to Oma’s for a couple of days.  TLW (the lovely wife) gave a thumbs up to Key West, so we will probably leave for there Monday AM late, and leave Key West Wednesday morning to head on up to Orlando, where we will stay until early Sunday morning.

Boat Drunks

Filed March 23, 2006 at 12:52 am under Parrotheads by TJ

First and foremost, if you like JB, you should check out “The Boat Drunks”.  Their website is at http://www.boatdrunks.com/ It’s more island music, and they’ve been getting alot of play on Radio Margaritaville lately, and for good reason.  They just produced another batch of their debut album, This Ain’t Duval Street, which is available on their website for $12 including shipping, well worth the money.

Speaking of boat drunks, Moose and I were discussing what the drink of the year is going to be on the boat, and we need some suggestions.  When we got the Tequila Monkey, that year, the drink was JaegerBombs.  Last year, it was Margaritas, and lots of Parrot Bay and Diet Coke.  As I am not allowed to drink Tequila anymore, we’re looking for a good easy to make, preferably Rum based drink that we can make on the boat, which means no blender, and a limit on the number of mixers necessary.  I don’t want to get into the same “boat” as we did last year, dragging 10 or 12 bottles on the boat each weekend, it was messy and expensive.  Please leave me a comment with your favorite boat drink.

Happy Birthday Old Lady…

Today is Sandy’s (Grandma Z) birthday.  Happy birthday…  Be sure to stop on by their blog and leave her an “Old Lady” comment.  ;-)

Their blog is at: http://zimmo.tryonfamily.com

I’m beat, just got off work, time for me to hit the sack and start it all over again first thing in the am…  At least I only have a couple more days of this until ***VACATION***

Munch-e-kin Strikes Again

Filed March 21, 2006 at 10:19 pm under Family by TJ

So, last night the lovely wife picked up the Munch-e-kin from Grandma and Grandpa Z.’s house.  She kept her awake until I got home, so that made my day.  They kidnapped her for a couple of days on Saturday, giving Mom and Dad a break, which we are always thankful for, though this time they returned damaged goods, looking like she went 10 rounds with a boxer…

Now that she’s getting more mobile, she’s also getting more brave.  She’s been grabbing on everything to pull herself up, tables, chairs, pants legs, and this time, it was Porter’s harness (their dog).  Porter apparently didn’t like it, and he bounced her off their entertainment center.

First off, Tanner’s quite OK.  No problems, no concusion, just quite a shiner.  Grandma and Grandpa Z feel really bad about it, but we all know it was an accident, and everything is fine.  Babies fall down and get hurt all the time, just a fact of life when you are learning to walk…  More than anything, I just posted the pictures to pick on them a bit…  (love ya!)  Give her a couple of days, and she’ll be no worse for wear…

We’re even going to let them kidnap her again tomorrow, while we pack for the trip.  Hopefully they don’t return her looking like a racoon.  ;-)

So what, yeah, I’m bored tonight…

Yeah, I know I’m a little chattier than normal tonight, I’m stuck at work waiting on QA verification of a software deployment.

First and foremost, welcome to everyone from all over the world who joins in here to read the crap that comes out of my head, and onto my keyboard.  I just checked my stats, and I have people from all over, including France, Germany, Costa Rica, Australia, Japan and other places.  I apparently have people from the US Military and US Government on here as well, so I should watch what I say, so I don’t get the black helicoptors flying overhead, though occasionally I may post a conspiracy theory or two.  Check out the stats for yourself at: http://www.tjtryon.com/stats/ or for this month at: http://www.tjtryon.com/stats/usage_200603.html

I had an old friend of mine send me an email tonight.  He had problems with the email subscription.  If you want to have an email sent to you when this blog is updated, put your email in the subscription box on the left sidebar and press the subscribe button.  You will then recieve an email with a link that you have to click on to confirm you indeed want to recieve the emails from me.  You will not recieve spam or other junk, just updates when I post my thoughts here.  As he said “Cool.  Now I don’t have to remind myself to go read your endless blather”.  If you decide you don’t want to recieve any more emails from me, just click the unsibscribe link from any of the emails you recieve, and you will not recieve any more emails.  It’s that simple, I don’t share the email addresses with anyone.

Some other site features that are available.  You can leave me comments on my posts by clicking the link to “Add a comment”.  I’ve recently opened this up to anyone, when before you had to register.  I still have to approve your comments on an individual basis until I know you are not going to spam me. Please don’t leave me spam, I will check for spam and delete it daily.  Additionally, my guestbook is active, and you can access it from the sidebar on the right.  Again, I don’t need people telling me where I can buy canadian vicoden, nor do I need a pill that will make my male member bigger.  No spam, I will delete it, I do monitor this stuff regularly.

If you are a regular reader here, and have a blog of your own, please feel free to shoot me an email with a link to your blog.  I like to read other peoples blogs as well, and if I like it, I’ll put your blog in my blogroll.  If you want a blog of your own, let me know as well, as I own the servers these are on.  I can easily set up a Wordpress Blog for you as well, just let me know.  You will need to register a domain name, and point the DNS to my blog.  If that’s too complex for you, I’ll set it up for you for $10 per year.  The $10 does not go into my pocket, it will go to the domain registrar for your .com address.  If you don’t use up all my webspace, and don’t use it for commercial purposes, I won’t charge you for the blog (though if I need to register a domain name for you, it’ll still cost you $10).  Start posting commercial or illegal or use up all my disk space, and then we’d have to talk…  I believe I have room on this server for about 10 more blogs, limited to about 100mb or so of space.

That’s all for now, I’ve talked too much.
